This wing is ground-breaking in performance, construction methods, and wing shaping. With all-new shaping profiles and trim, it performs like nothing else we have previously offered.

Features

  • Full FT-30 construction.

  • True-cell construction (as opposed to the I-beam construction of most other parachutes).
True-cell construction gives significantly better shaping and sail tensioning across lift-producing portions of the wing and helps to reduce drag. Modified true-cell construction is an all-internal upper surface seam construction that eliminates bulky exterior seams and their associated drag.

  • External bottom surface line-tab attachments provide ease of maintenance.

  • The top skin logo is incorporated, making the SAW massively good looking.

  • When new, the SAW packs approximately one size bigger than the AW2 when brand new. With use, the pack volume will reduce slightly.

Flight Characteristics

The recovery arc is shorter than the AW2, with noticeably less sink at the bottom portion, making it more defined and crisp. Make no mistake; the SAW dives until you ask it not to, though!

The roll behavior is responsive and lively, with progressive inputs, but slightly less than that of a similar-sized AW2 (freestyle considerations).  The harness feedback is intuitive and not twitchy. Like many Fluid Wings parachutes, the SAW loves to be piloted via harness and rear riser inputs.

The rears are very unique on the SAW, with very progressive feedback. Initial inputs are not sensitive, but with increased input comes much more response (there is a spot where they really take effect). We think the rears on the SAW are the best we've ever flown, especially when you really get deep into them. The flare has a strong finish, even when rears have been held a tad too long.

The SAW was designed as a sporty wing specifically for some of our sponsored pilots, who wanted something that could do it all well from anything they do, including flocking, freefall, and freestyle on the pond. We think we found it with the all-new SAW.

Opening Characteristics

The SAW was intended to be the ultimate daily driver for free fall jumps. Our test jumpers have found the opening to be reliable and ideally suited for a free fall environment, with that "Fluid feel" that many have come to expect from our products.

Production

To accommodate the complex build of the SAW, certain manufacturing aspects needed to be streamlined to keep costs down. As a result, color options will remain limited. Custom colors within our specified pattern are available for an additional $500 and may incur longer delivery times.

Skydiving, parachuting, speedflying, and paragliding are dangerous. There is no way to entirely eliminate these risks. Even when piloted, packed, or launched properly, you may be injured and/or lose your life using these products. The pilot of the wing (parachute, speeding, or paraglider) bears the sole responsiblity of choosing the correct wing for thier skill level, and ensuring that the condition of the wing is airworthy.
